Packaging EPR reporting data from your Shopify orders

Connect Shopify, map your packaging once, and prepare country-specific EPR reporting data from your actual shipments.

Coming to the Shopify App Store. Early access by invitation.

The problem

One shop, several packaging registers

Since 12 August 2026 the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR) applies, and in Germany the VerpackDG has replaced the Verpackungsgesetz (VerpackG). Shops that ship packaged goods into other EU countries generally have packaging obligations there as well.

Each country has its own register, its own format and its own deadlines. The numbers they ask for come from your orders: which products you shipped, in which packaging, to which country. Most shops still put them together by hand.

Example data for illustration

  1. Connect Shopify

Install the app. It gets read-only access to your orders and products.

  2. Describe your packaging

Create packaging profiles with material and weight per layer, from scratch or from presets. Add one profile for your shipping parcel.

  3. Map your products

Assign a profile per variant, per product, or one store default. Products without packaging are listed so nothing is silently left out.

  4. Run a report

Pick a period. The app totals packaging from shipped orders per destination country and material.

  5. Export and file

Download the LUCID XML for Germany and read off the Citeo figures for France. You submit them in the official portals.

DE · LUCID

Germany: LUCID report from your Shopify orders

  • Kilograms per LUCID material (glass, paper and cardboard, plastics, aluminium and more) with the exact formatting LUCID expects
  • An XML file for the LUCID data upload, checked against the official XSD of the Verpackungsregister
  • Your registry details stored once: LUCID registration number and dual system
  • The same figures for your dual system report, since LUCID and your system must match
FR · Citeo

France: Citeo summary for packaging EPR

  • Counts sales units (UVC), with each shipped parcel as its own unit
  • Shows which Citeo regime applies: flat fee, simplified, or per sales unit
  • Units per Citeo product-family code
  • Shipping packaging per Citeo code, by material and weight bracket

Citeo has no upload interface, so you enter the figures in Citeo’s client area.

Transparent counting

How the numbers are calculated

  • Only shipped orders count, dated by their ship date.
  • Product packaging counts once per unit sold; shipping packaging once per order.
  • Refunds do not reduce the totals, because the packaging still reached the market.
  • Products without a packaging profile are listed as unmapped and left out, never guessed.
Honest limits

What Packsum does not do

  • It does not file, register or submit anything for you. You stay responsible for your registrations and reports.
  • It does not replace your dual-system licence, your Citeo membership or an authorised representative, if you need one.
  • Germany and France for now. Tell us which other countries you need when you join the waitlist.
  • Results are only as good as your packaging weights. Presets are typical values, so weigh your own packaging before you file.
  • Partially fulfilled orders currently count all their items as shipped.
  • At launch the app can only read recent orders (Shopify’s default is the last 60 days) and up to 10,000 orders per report.
  • It is software, not legal advice.

Questions

Does Packsum file my packaging reports?

No. It prepares the data and files you need. You upload the LUCID XML yourself and enter the Citeo figures in Citeo’s client area.

What changed with the VerpackDG in Germany?

Since 12 August 2026 the VerpackDG applies in Germany instead of the Verpackungsgesetz (VerpackG), alongside the EU Packaging Regulation. Registration in the LUCID packaging register, licensing with a dual system and the LUCID data report remain required, and shipping packaging still counts.

Do I still need a LUCID registration and a dual system?

Yes. Registering in LUCID and licensing your packaging with a dual system are your own steps. The app stores your registration number and dual system and uses them in the export.

Which countries are supported?

Germany (LUCID XML) and France (Citeo summary). More countries are planned, and waitlist answers help us decide which come next.

What does it cost?

Pricing will be per reporting country. See the pricing page for details.
